Laura M. Herrera

Laura’s career has included positions in travel and tourism, government, the non-profit sector, the restaurant industry and large-scale event production. These experiences have given Laura a vast skill set, helping her develop unmatched expertise in marketing, events and hospitality.

She began her career with then-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani as a Mayoral Liaison, coordinating the Mayor’s appearances at events throughout the City. Her experience in political advance introduced her to hundreds of events and venues and prepared her for a career in events and marketing. Laura helped orchestrate the Mayor’s involvement in parades, press conferences, gala dinners, sporting events and many other types of functions.

In 2000 Laura joined NYC & Company, the City’s tourism marketing agency. While at NYC & Company, Laura managed dozens of city-wide promotions including the very popular Restaurant Week, the Latin New York Festival and Paint the Town. She oversaw their promotional budgets and advertising plans and coordinated the development of collateral materials and the planning of related events. Laura also handled day-to-day communication with the organization’s major sponsors, including American Express, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines and The Coca-Cola Company. Laura learned the art of keeping a corporate sponsor engaged with the organization and its goals on a daily basis. While at NYC & Company, Laura also had the privilege of assisting with the publication of two books, The New York Restaurant Cookbook, authored by famed New York Times writer, Florence Fabricant, and Cocktails in New York, written by food and wine expert Anthony Giglio. The books, both published by Rizzoli, were successfully produced as marketing tools to promote the New York restaurant industry. At NYC & Company, Laura learned to think outside the box in order to find creative and cost effective ways to market an organization.

While at NYC & Company, Laura was tapped to represent the tourism agency at the 2004 Republican National Convention. She joined the Convention staff in 2003 as Deputy Director for Delegate Services and was charged with coordinating the use of all venues outside of the Convention’s Madison Square Garden home, as well as assisting delegations and corporations in finding appropriate vendors. This gave Laura the opportunity to become familiar with several hundred venues, as well as other vendors including florists, caterers, photographers, and entertainment companies. She was also responsible for production of the Convention’s Master Calendar.

At the close of the Convention in late 2004, Laura came together with two partners to form BLM Strategies, LLC. For six years, BLM successfully counseled non-profits, corporations and political campaigns with fundraising and development services as well as strategic planning. Through BLM Strategies, Laura consulted such clients as the National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy, the New Jersey State Opera and OpSail, and continues her work for these clients through Full House.

In 2008, Laura co-founded Full House Events, LLC, focusing on full-service event production, sponsorship fulfillment, event and venue marketing and business development. Since the inception of Full House, Laura has consulted the National Park Service, Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey, the Rutgers Alumni Association, the Morris County Tourism Bureau and others.

Laura is a graduate of The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, New York, where she serves on the Alumni Board, and is a graduate of Rutgers College. While at Rutgers, Laura was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority and served as chapter president. She remains involved in the organization and currently sits on the chapter’s Corporation Board as Vice President. Laura resides in Bergen County, New Jersey with her son, Luca.
